BBC Horizon Documentary, "Why Do We Dream?"

Can't get enough information about dreams?  Check out this 58 minute documentary by  the BBC's acclaimed science programme, Horizon.  I do not know if this has been aired in the United States, but if it did, it probably was broadcast as a Nova episode sometime after 2008.  About 10 minutes would have cut out from any Nova broadcast for PBS "non-commercial" commericals.  Some of the most interesting bits from this documentary:
  • People with major depression or a depressive illness spend more time in REM sleep and not enough time in non-REM sleep
  • Not everyone dreams. (Great -- now I'll have to go through all of the posts in this blog to correct this.)  People that recently had a stroke sometimes stop draming, although the ability to dream can return
  • Dreams inspired the sweing machine
  • Women dream about having sex with celebrities (ahem) twice as often as men do.
